Painted plates for all occassions.

I have had a full week off of work. Thank goodness, it was a much needed break from the insane-ness that we call movie making…. Well I have had time to let my creativity flow and my paint brush work its magic. I love a blank canvas, for my case a blank plain ole’ plate. I stare at it for minute and think of the color or shape or style. Then i start. I don’t have any pre-determined ideas before hand. I don’t sketch on paper what i want, i just look at the plate and whatever comes to me.. comes

I was a bit lazy about posting. Thats the truth, until a kind fellow blog reader emailed me and asked if I had drawn any plates recently. I think its been about 3 weeks since i posted. Well that was last night. First thing this morning i picked up my canon and took my plates outside and snapped away. I was SO pumped that there ARE devoted readers out there who do check back on my blog to see if anything new is going on.

Here is to you… you know who you are.

I not only do plates for my creative benefit, but I draw them for people, for special occasions, for birthdays and for weddings. I have requests every two weeks or so for a plate, usually wedding related, but its is hard for me to part with some.

I am drawing a plate for a person on facebook who saw my painted plate on my page. Updates to come sometime next week… with the finished product.

Custom Bracelets for Helen

I was asked to make some bracelets for Shawns Mothers friend, Helene. She wanted a 8.1″ bracelet. She loves green and blue (like me).

I made 3 styles of bracelets:

1 = a blue bangle bracelets filled with square glass charms and silver spacers.

2 = a european (pandora) inspired bracelet with clasp with glass round and square bobbles and silver dangle charms (“made with love,” a dolphin and an angel). Also between the bobbles of glass I have flowers, clovers and silver apples.

3 = I made a green bracelet with the clasp and toggle on the ends. I alternated from dark green and lime green glass bobbles with silver spacers in between.

Five Charm Bracelets

Half a day of my Victoria long weekend i spent crafting 5 bracelets to put on Etsy.

Blue, Green, Red, Orange and Pink

They are all made with either a leather corded bracelet or silver plated chain bracelet. They all range from 7.5″ to 8″ (seems like the most common)

I hope they are enjoyed by many. They are stunning. I wore them for half a day and they did not fall off. I was NOT worried. No need for a safety chain.

Custom order for Anna @etsy

I was contacted by Anna in Russia about 2 bracelets she liked {that were made previously for someone else } They were loved and taken away by a co-worker already last week. So I made a similar pink charm for her.

She also loved the yellow bangle and ordered two of those.

They will be shipped shortly. Yeah! Its my first order from Russia! And hopefully many more. (she is showing these to her clients in Russia, so it could possibly mean much more crafting)

Thanks Anna! I hope you like these.

Charm Bracelets Galore

I made these three bracelets on my day off (Sunday). I hardly count Saturday as a day off because I always get home between 5am-8am Saturday and sleep for a few hours then eat then fall asleep playing video games.

This bracelet is similar to the one i made for Oma. (read about it here). Minus the metal punched letters on copper with “O-M-A” on it. I put two bail and chain charms with one that reads “MOM” and the other that is an angel on the back it says “made for an angel” I used glass charms with sterling silver centers and alternated between a glass charm and silver charm.

This bangle bracelet is sterling silver I bought it in a pack of 4 from a craft store. You unscrew the silver ball on the end and add the charms that you like. Its secured on both ends with ‘screw in’ charms that holds the beads in place. I alternated from yellow glass charms and silver charms.

This one reminds me of summer. I just wish if i wore more summery clothes it would feel that way. Its FREEZING outside. Thank Goodness it starts raining at 9pm and we are inside by then. I hate working in the rain. I get more grumpy

This bracelet is made from a sterling silver chain (Don’t know if that is the right term for what it is…) Like the pink one it alternates from silver charm and glass bobble charms. I added some of my new purchases like a rocking horse charm and the snow man.

I think my most favorite silver charm in this bracelet is the little crab with teal jewels on its shell. I ordered that one from this jeweler in Montreal. And my favorite glass bobble charm is two beside the crab which is this light blue with white dots (it reminds me of clouds in the sky).

Hope the person who receives this bracelet will love it as much as I do (Yes like all the other pieces i make I want to keep it)

8 more hours left in the day before i need to sleep. Time to play some video games. Bye

Charm bracelet for the lovely Oma

I made this darling bracelet for my Oma (Shawn’s grandmother) She is such a sweet lady. She has a tiny tiny wrist. This chain bracelet had a heart clasp originally at the end of it, but i thought a clasp is hard to get on for one person, so i put a simple magnetic finding at the end to make it easier for her.

I started with a bronze heart and hammered “O-M-A” on it with my NEW 1/8 steel letter punch set i bought from Princess auto (I love you) Its so adorable. Then I first decided to make her a keychain with a cross but then thought .. yikes i believe i just made her 3 other key chains… So this came idea came.

I had to find colors that were classic like the bronze. I knew i was going to stick with gold So i used a cute pineapple (like the one underthesea where Sponge bob lives) and a starfish. I filled in a light pink bobble every 3-4 beads. There is a pattern… if you take a look closely

I love pandora bracelets, but would never consider buying it because of the cost. Well This is a ‘pandora inspired’ bracelet for the rich at heart but empty pocket type gal. I used some gold and silver charms and some pink glass bobbles. I LOVE THIS its hard to part with this (like all my other works) but there is only 1 Oma,… and thats note my name

Painted eagle with wood burnt edges

This 16 inch pine plaque took about 3 hours to paint. I was very nervous trying to tackle this project.

Shawn’s dad asked bought the letter “D-E-E-R-I-N-G B-A-N-J-O” from the states and wanted to make something similar to the Deering Banjo logo. So the photo he sent me had yellow letters with black outline, so me and Shawn painted those letters and he had sealed with with varathan (like 60 coats of varnish… you can eat off of it)

Then the hard part. I attempted wood burning on a small sample pine wood… the impact of the eagle eyes were NOT there, I used oil color and water color pencil crayons (when adding water it appears to look like paint), it did NOT look good either. Then one day i sat down and decided to just do it. I just used acrylic paints, I sketched out the silhouette of the eagle and started to mix white, black, orange, yellow and brown colors on my palette.

I started out painted the beak. Yellow, brown and dark brown. It looks OK-ay to me. Then I added some texture around the beak by dotting some yellow and greys. I used my medium sized brush loaded with white paint and a dash of grey and started to add strokes to the feathers.

Then I painted the dark brown feathers with one shade as i didn’t want to take away from the white feathers. I used a thing “0″ (zero) brush and used dark dark brown and light brown 1 inch strokes to look like feather.

3 hours later I am done. I am pretty happy with the outcome. This is only 1 part of 3, so more to come shortly.

I used my Walnut hollow woodburning tool  #5594 shading tool tip for the ivy leaves (as i call them) and just a calligraphy point for the branches in between. That didn’t take long…

Brown leather bracelet

I am always inspired when I browse the pandora catalogs. Ah so beautiful and elegant, but who can afford the crazy prices. I know I won’t pay hundreds of dollars for a bracelet.

So I went to my local craft store Micheals to pick up a few supplies to make this bracelet.

Hand made leather bracelets measuring 7.5 inches or 19 cm. Bracelet is made up of 3 strands of real leather cording: 2 braided (dark brown, chocolate brown) and 1 flat brown.

Great for men and women. Can be customized to different wrist sizes and other colored murano glass bead. Also great for party loop bags, bridal showers, and wedding favors.

Send me a message if you would like a custom order. I have many spacer beads and colored glass beads to choose from. I can customize your packaging
